In December 1997, Dr. Michael T. Reilly performed a double hip replacement on me after quite a number of years back, I had begun to develop pain first in one upper leg, and then in the other leg, too. Not considering this a "hip" problem — because the pain was mostly in my groin and thigh — I went through various treatments, pain shots, exercise and taking supplements, hoping this would go away. A surgeon I consulted in June 1995 said, “When I can't walk another block, then it is time to operate!”

Contrary to family and friends’ advice, I was against hip replacements because I did not want to have any metal parts put into my body. As time went on, there was still no improvement. In fact, I had to resort to walking with a cane and walking very slowly. Standing for any length of time was a problem, too, plus many other daily tasks. I continued going to work because I could sit at a desk.

In July 1997, 1 was referred to Dr. Reilly for another opinion, and when he gave me THE ULTIMATUM: “If I didn't have my hips replaced soon, I would be confined to a wheelchair!” That convinced me!. X-Rays revealed both hips in equally bad shape, and Dr. Reilly immediately said that I was in good health, and he would operate both hips at the same time The rest is history!

Thanks to Dr. Reilly’s great skill, the operation was an immediate success! I have had no pain at all since the surgery. After two weeks in the hospital’s Rehabilitation Center, going through physical and occupational therapies, I went home and had more therapy there. I really had an easy time and am glad both hips were replaced together. Recuperation was fast, and I returned to work soon after. People who knew me before the operation are amazed how fast I now walk and no longer have a “pained” look on my face.
