Dr. Michael T. Reilly is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and Director of the Center
for Knee, Shoulder & Hip at Broward
Orthopaedic Specialists.
Dr. Reilly developed interest in orthopaedics at an early age after experiencing
several of his own athletic injuries. These experiences fueled his passion
for helping others to overcome sports injuries and problems related to
joint arthritis.
Following his premedical education at the University of Pennsylvania,
graduating with honors, he went on to medical school. His postgraduate
work includes an internship at the University of Utah and orthopaedic
residency at the University of Miami. Dr. Reilly was selected from hundreds
of applicants for advanced postgraduate training as a Fellow with the
renowned Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama, where he refined his
skills in sports medicine, arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery.
In 1989, Dr. Reilly established his orthopaedic practice in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. He has successfully treated thousands of patients, establishing
himself as an expert in arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery of
the knee, shoulder and hip. Although Dr. Reilly
developed and refined his surgical skills to support the athletic and
arthritic arena, his orthopaedic expertise has become known for state
of the art care and treatment of people in all walks of life.
South Florida Magazine recognized Dr. Reilly as "Best Orthopaedic
Surgeon" taken from a survey of Florida doctors. He has also been
selected by Castle Connolly Guide as How to Find the Best Doctors: Florida
and has been named Top Docs 2000 Best Physicians in South Florida, Miami
Metro Magazine October 2000 Issue. His resume includes membership to
prestigious
professional organizations: American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons,
American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Association
of Hip and Knee Surgeons, American Arthroscopy Association of North America,
and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Reilly serves as a National Team Physician for the United States Swimming
Team. He was selected as a physician for the United States Olympic Team.
With a strong interest in education, he is a frequent lecturer, author
of many publications, and has teaching duties as an Assistant Clinical
Professor for the University of Florida Residency Training Program. He
is a consultant and board member of the Arthritis Foundation. Dr. Reilly
remains active with research and serves as a consultant for Genzyme Corporation
cartilage regeneration and transplantation projects and investigation.
The most rewarding part of Dr. Reilly's orthopaedic practice is the opportunity
to relate to the professional and recreational competitive athletes, as
well as injured workers, homemakers, non-athletes, and senior citizens.
